Minister’s Musings for October 2017
Rev. Emily Wright-Magoon
I see you out there.
Beautiful ones, I see you out there living your lives with vulnerability and with courage.
I see you speaking truth to power: bravely articulating your values in the world, confident that Love calls us not to shrink away, but to be the voices, hands, and spirits of justice-making in the world. I see you working for humane immigration laws, for environmental sustainability, for education about transgender issues, and more. I see you engaging in conversations about the way racism functions among us.
I see you doing the brave and beautiful work in your own lives and families… The work of mourning loss & remembering love. The work of diving deep into the recovery process, and remembering we cannot do it alone. The work of reaching out for support and solidarity.
I see you sharing the vulnerabilities of your lives, which inspires others to share what is in the sanctuaries of their own hearts. I see you listening. I see you working to forgive yourselves and others. I see you holding boundaries when they need to be held, out of love for yourself and for the other. I see you caring for one another in times of need. I see you seeking out joy and beauty.
This is the work of building the beloved community.
May we continue to recommit ourselves to this work, knowing that we can do it because we ourselves are deeply loved, forever held by something larger than ourselves which abides.
In gratitude,
Rev. Emily
